Dr. Alex Wong is currently a Sports and Family Physician and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary. He is the Medical Site Leader at the Transition Care Unit for the rehabilitation of medical and post-surgical patients and has a strong interest in preventative physical and mental health.

Dr. Wong completed his BSc Pharm degree (1995) and Hospital Pharmacy Residency (1996) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He practiced as a hospital pharmacist in Richmond, BC for 5 years before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at UBC (2003), his Family Medicine Residency at the University of Calgary (2005) and Master of Public Health (MPH) at Harvard University (2015). He received the CASEM Diploma in Sport Medicine in 2008 and IOC Diploma of Sports Nutrition in 2009. He holds a Certificate in the College of Family Physicians of Canada with a Certificate of Added Competency in Sports Medicine (CCFP (SEM)).

He has been an assistant physician for the Calgary Flames since 2013 and has recently joined the Calgary Stampeders medical team.  He has also provided medical coverage for numerous sports on the national and local level, including soccer, speedskating, ice hockey, and UFC.  He has over 100 medical journal publications, including photo cases and review articles, and has also created the Vayalux knee and shoulder exercise DVD series.

Dr. Wong speaks Cantonese and Mandarin. He is married and a father of two. He enjoys karate, archery, and drawing and loves playing sports and online games with his kids!
